What is 4marketplace?

4marketplace is a hosted platform for running a multi-vendor marketplace. Independent sellers list their products under your brand, you approve sellers and products, you set the commission, and every order is split by seller. It is software for the operator: it does not sell for you and it does not bring you shoppers.

What the platform does for an operator

4marketplace gives you the storefront, the seller portal and the order and payout tracking for a marketplace with many independent sellers. It is software for the operator; it is not a marketplace that brings you shoppers.

One storefront, many sellers

Independent sellers list their products under your brand. Shoppers browse a single catalogue, and each seller also has a page of their own that lists only their products.

Sellers apply on your site

Once you open applications, a public page lets a seller sign up. You decide whether each application is approved by hand or automatically, whether a registered company is required, and which terms the seller must accept.

Products checked before they go live

Unless you switch on automatic approval, a seller's new product waits as a draft until you approve it or reject it with a note. The seller sees the decision in their own portal.

A portal for every seller

Sellers add and edit their own products, see only the order lines that belong to them, mark each line as preparing, handed over or cancelled, and keep their shop name, logo, contact details and returns policy up to date. The commission and the plan stay with you.

Commission and payouts

You set the commission. A card payment taken through Stripe is split per order: the seller's share goes to the seller's own Stripe account and the commission stays with you. If you collect card payments through PayU or Netopia instead, the panel records what you owe each seller; you pay them yourself and mark it as paid with your reference.

Orders and shipping per seller

A basket with products from several sellers becomes one order whose lines are grouped by seller. You choose how shipping is charged, including one delivery fee per seller, and when an order has several sellers the checkout shows how many parcels the shipping covers.

From the first seller to the first payout

  1. Set up the storefront

Pick a storefront template, connect a domain of your own and open seller applications with the rules you want.

  2. Approve sellers and set the commission

Review each application, accept the sellers you want and set the commission that applies to them.

  3. Let sellers list, approve what goes live

Sellers add products from their portal. You approve or reject each new product before shoppers can see it.

  4. Sell, ship and settle

Shoppers check out once; each seller works on their own order lines, and you follow payouts and any amounts still owed to each seller in the panel.

Who runs a marketplace like this

Examples of how operators can use it.

A niche or regional marketplace

Local producers, craftspeople or suppliers in one trade can sell side by side under a single brand, with the customers and the catalogue belonging to the operator.

A company that already has suppliers

If you buy from many small suppliers, a marketplace lets them list and fulfil their own orders instead of sending you spreadsheets, while you keep control of what is published.

A team that wants one customer relationship

Shoppers hold their accounts on your site and can see their order history there, whichever seller fulfilled the lines.

Advantages

  • Storefront, seller portal and order tracking come as one product, set up from the panel without writing code.
  • Sellers and products are unlimited on every plan; the plans differ in storage and in included development hours.
  • Commission rules can be set per seller, per product category, or per seller and category, with an optional minimum and fixed amount. A change applies to future orders only; past orders keep the rate frozen at checkout.
  • Every product waits for your approval before shoppers see it, unless you switch on automatic approval.
  • Orders are grouped by seller, with shipping charged the way you choose, including one delivery fee per seller.
  • Plan prices are published and the comparison table below is read live from the plan catalogue.

Limits: what to know before you start

  • It is software for the operator: it does not bring you shoppers or sellers. Traffic and seller recruitment stay your job.
  • Marking a settlement as paid in the panel records the payment and your reference. It does not move any money.
  • Sellers cannot change their commission or their plan, and cannot see the order lines of other sellers.
  • Publishing your marketplace from the panel needs a domain of your own, connected and verified.
  • To be paid through Stripe, each seller completes Stripe's onboarding, and so do you as the operator; the Stripe checkout will not take a payment for a seller who cannot be paid out. Other card payment methods do not require it.

Questions from marketplace operators

Short answers about what the platform does today.

Is this a marketplace where I can sell as a seller?
No. 4marketplace is the software for running your own marketplace. You become the operator: you invite the sellers, approve them and their products, and set the commission.
Can sellers sign up by themselves?
Yes, through a public application page on your site, once you open applications. You choose whether applications are approved by hand or automatically, and whether a registered company and acceptance of your terms are required.
How many sellers and products can I have?
Sellers and products are unlimited on every plan. The plans differ in storage space and in the hours of custom development included each month; the table on this page shows the current values.
Do I need my own domain?
Yes. Publishing from the panel needs a domain of your own, and each plan lets you connect one.
How much does it cost?
There are 4 plans, from €70 to €200 a month. Prices are in euro. The table on this page is read from the plan catalogue, so it always matches the pricing page.
What is 4marketplace?
4marketplace is software for running your own multi-vendor marketplace: a storefront, a portal for each independent seller, commission rules, order lines split by seller and payout tracking. You are the operator of the marketplace; 4marketplace does not sell on your behalf and does not bring shoppers.
How does 4marketplace differ from Sharetribe, Dokan or Mirakl?
Sharetribe is a hosted marketplace builder, Dokan is sold as a WordPress plugin and Mirakl is aimed at enterprises, according to each vendor's own pages (consulted 29 October 2026). 4marketplace is a hosted subscription with the storefront and seller portal included and unlimited sellers and products on every plan. The comparison table on this page lists the differences row by row, and what 4marketplace does not do.
What does 4marketplace not do?
It does not bring shoppers or sellers to your marketplace, and it does not move money when you mark a payout as paid in the panel. Publishing needs a domain of your own, and Stripe payouts need each seller to complete Stripe's onboarding.
